Ultimately, University of Alberta Pride Week is about engaging our campus communities to come together to collectively build and support safe, caring, and respectful campus environments for sexual and gender minority and allied students, staff, and faculty. The phrase 'sexual and gender minority' includes LGBTTQQPIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Two-Spirit, Queer, Questioning, Pansexual, Intersex, Asexual and more) communities and individuals, as well as their friends, family and loved ones.
It is also one key way in which we help to collectively live out our campus commitment expressed in the vision of For The Common Good, which is to“empower and enable each member of the University of Alberta to build, experience, excel, engage, and sustain. The successful implementation of the plan will depend on all, individually and collectively, taking action."
Rainbow Welcome and UAlberta Pride Week would not be possible without the phenomenal support from a wide variety of campus and community stakeholders who are committed to help ensure Pride Week continues to become an important, vibrant, and enduring part of the institutional fabric of the University of Alberta.
